Liquidity has a location on the price curve
Why the headline value in a pool can conceal where trading depth actually sits.

The mechanism
Concentrated liquidity allows a provider to choose the price interval in which their capital is active. In Uniswap’s model, positions outside the current price range do not provide active liquidity for swaps at that price. Total deposited value is therefore not a complete picture of immediately usable depth.
Put it into practice
Draw a horizontal price axis and mark the ranges containing deposits. Two pools can have the same total value while placing it very differently. A trader cares about the price path their order crosses; a provider also cares about where their position stops earning swap fees. This illustration is conceptual: real execution depends on the pool, fees and the current distribution of positions. Do not substitute a large total for an actual quote.
Compare two hypothetical pools
Imagine two pools with equal deposited value. One places most of its positions near the current price, while the other places much of its capital outside it. Equal headline value does not imply equal execution for a trade. Write down the proposed input amount and inspect the available quote; repeat for a different amount only as a comparison, not as a claim that the earlier quote stays executable.
A compact research record
Record the pool address, asset identifiers, observation time, input amount, quoted output and estimated fees. Keep the displayed pool value in a separate field. If a route disappears, preserve the failed observation rather than replacing it with a stale quote. This makes the research reproducible without suggesting that the quoted conditions will remain available.
Keep the evidence in view.
